Text Box: The Abenaki The Abenaki were some of the first people to live in North America. They lived in homes called wigwams and got their food by hunting, fishing, and farming. Their name means "Dawn Land Place," because they lived in the east where the sun rises. Today, Abenaki people live in regular houses, but they still follow their old ways. They keep their culture alive by telling stories, singing songs, and using special plants to help with healing. Their stories teach kids about nature and how to be kind. The Abenaki want to keep their traditions strong. These customs help them feel proud and remember their history. It teaches them to be thankful and respect their elders and nature.Reading Comprehension-
